"Groovy Escapes"
Project Background
Le Specs has carved out a space for itself in the eyewear market by offering affordable luxury. Travel retail environments, particularly airports, are often dominated by high-end luxury brands, creating a gap for Le Specs to capitalise on. The gap focuses on offering consumers with affordable eyewear, while providing them with a unique experience that still offers the exclusivity that traditional luxury brands offer. Through its trendy and youthful image, Le Specs has the ability to attract customers that seek out stylish eyewear that doesn't come with the high price tag of traditional luxury brands.

An opportunity is also created by the challenges faced by many travel retailers in turning Gen-Z shop visits into purchases and incentivising them with duty-free pricing. Le Spec can differentiate itself from competitors in the travel sector, by creating a more desirable experience for Gen-Z when traveling. Le Specs can offer interactive, fun, and visually stunning pop-up stores that provide a more engaging, immersive and memorable shopping experience.
Project Proposal
The proposal centres around launching a 70s-themed 9 piece collection designed specifically for the travel retail market. The collection will focus on the growing nostalgia trend, with 70s-inspired eyewear styles, bold and colourful imagery and retro packaging. The collection will be limited edition, meaning that Le Specs can create a sense of urgency and exclusivity, making these sunglasses a “must have” for travellers as it will be exclusive to travel retail.
The collection will act as something special that customers can purchase to remember their travels. An immersive and interactive pop-up will be key to creating unique experiences that will engage travellers, aligning with the growing trend of experience-driven retail. This strategy will allow Le Specs to carve out a space in the travel retail space and connect with modern travellers who are looking for both style and experiences.
Proposed Collection
The collection will be made up of nine products, made up of three styles each in three different colours. The proposed products will take inspiration from popular 70s, which were known for bold styles and colourful patterns. By offering these limited edition, travel-exclusive sunglasses, Le Specs can appeal to fashion-forward travellers who want something special and unique, while reinforcing a sense of luxury and exclusivity.

Retail Strategy
The collection would be available in retro-inspired pop-up stores that embodies the fun and carefree vibe of the 1970s. The pop-up will feature iconic patterns, disco balls, vintage travel aesthetics and bold graphics reminiscent of 70s travel posters, and will serve as an interactive space where travellers can escape into the colourful world of the 70s.
To build customer engagement the pop-up will incorporate a photo booth with 70s-themed props (e.g. oversized sunglasses, vintage suitcases, groovy backgrounds) to create Instagram-worthy moments that encourage social media sharing. Travellers will be able to take pictures while trying on their 70s sunglasses, providing them with a branded, memorable experience that connects with Le Specs' youthful, fun personality.

Marketing Strategy
The marketing strategy to promote the proposed collection will primarily target Gen-Z consumers and will involve promoting the collection as being limited-edition, to promote a sense of urgency and exclusivity. It will centre around providing a memorable experience that will draw in customers in travel hubs, as well as creating a sense of excitement.

POS - Points of sales will be unique, showcasing bright and bold imagery reminiscent of the 70s that will transport them to a different time. The pop up stores will include a “photo booth”, where travellers can take pictures wearing Le Specs and share them on social media, working as free marketing for the brand. Le Specs could go further and provide customers with polaroid photos that will serve as memories for travellers, and will reinforce a sense of fondness and positivity towards the brand.
GWP - Customers who purchase a pair of Groovy Le Specs will receive a gift with purchase which will include a limited edition glasses case, that will assist in incentivising purchases. Customers will also receive a pin that will act as a souvenir that will remind them of the brand and their travels, creating a positive correlation.
Digital Marketing - Digital Marketing strategies will include social media campaigns run across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Youtube, where the #GroovySpecs can be used by customers to share their travel moments wearing their Le Specs. Partnering with influencers and travel bloggers who will post content across social media sites featuring unboxing videos, travel diaries, and styling tips that highlight the exclusive limited-edition pieces available at various travel locations.
Staff Incentives - Staff will also be incentivized by providing them with an additional discount on pieces of the collection. Staff can also be rewarded with bonuses or prizes based on sales performance, to create a motivated atmosphere to boost product knowledge and customer engagement.
